Every year Christians, all over the world, celebrate symbolically the birth of Christ. To satisfy in this purpose millions of Christmas trees are shop down, turkeys are killed in overdrive for stuffing purpose, gooses are tactically strangled to strip them from their over-sized ‘fois gras’, and slaughter houses need to be isolated acoustically to contain the awful sounds within their walls of death.
Of course, a good meal is always appropriate for any celebration, however, it seems to me that we have forgotten what the spiritual meaning of Christmas is all about.
Allow us to outline you this in brief.
The word “Christ” comes from “Christos”, and is a Greek word meaning “anointed”, which in return means ‘GOD’S chosen child‘. Furthermore, it’s important to note that all men are GOD’S children, and that Christ is present in all of us. Now, according to the Christian narrative Christ says:
“I am the light of the world. He who follows me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life”
And so, we may say that we humans are chosen to become one with the light, so that we might live our life in ‘awareness of’, and ‘union with’ GOD. Christmas therefore symbolizes the delivery of the spiritual within man, which is GOD’S true gift of life; hence, we should not only celebrate Christmas by honoring the life, but most important of all by given thanks to GOD for His spiritual gift that nestles deep within us, and allows us to truly live the life.
Merry Christmas to all of you and all the best for 2014!
